This summer (2016), I attended an audition with Alton Fringe Theatre for their up-coming production of Shakespeare's King Lear (Nov 29th to Fri Dec 2nd inclusive in the Wessex Arts Centre).

Being a new arrival in this company, I was amazed and pleased to be offered the part of KENT, which is a great part for a mere new-comer.
Alton Fringe have impressed me: it is an experienced company which, I believe, likes to do things right (my emphasis). Having a bit more more experience of performing in Shakespeare productions than AFT (7 or 8 I think, to its 2 so far), I was asked to share some of what I have learned 'by doing', and from my teacher, dear friend and fellow Christian Ian Cullen.

My first piece (the first of a series on Iambic Pentameter) was very well received. But I -um- emailed it to the wrong address list! Very embarrassing.
To avoid similar mix-ups in future, I have created this blog to hold all my tutorial ramblings for Alton Fringe members (& indeed anyone) to read, hopefully enjoy, and start doing Shakespeare right.

I do not claim to be an expert on delivering the bard's lines. I am a (mature) student who is recording what he has learned over a period of about ten years. Please add your comments / corrections / questions here -- constructively, please. I would be delighted to update the posts as we all learn together.
